Reflection : Concept of AIDCA

Attention:
I chose the crossword ad and in this ad there is only an image of a book with a reflection of a lip. From my point of view, this specific ad is lacking in many things to make it achieve on a good ad. It has no effective body copy and there was no picky or unique headline to be found. The theme is very simple in a way it is not attractive enough to grab the consumer attraction.

Interested:
There was no specific target audience that I can find in the ad. This ad is too simple and flat and it is hard to even notice anything as well. It is stated ‘audio books’ and there is where the idea of the ad is predictable.

Desire:
There was nothing to be found as the purpose of the visuals in this ad. It does not capture my attention. It does not show the product being used. I could not be more honest weather this ad will ever sticks in my memory.

Conviction:
As I said there wasn’t anything that captures my attention so there wasn't any relationship that I could see with this ad. There was not any conformation given on this specific product. They miss to showcase their product in it as well.

Action:
There wasn't anything else took place in the ad other than the visual and the tag line. It was very overwhelming after going through this ad. Disappointed in a way the layout of this ad is not being much helpful to the consumers.

  1. In my point of view, I disagree that this Crossword audio books is an ineffective print advertisement. In fact, I really like this print advertisement. The simplicity of this print advertisement caught my attention even though it has no body copy or headline. However, it visuals a open book on a table with a reflection (shadow) looks like a lips. This is a smart and unique visual that can connect the concept of the brand, “spoken" to its print advertisement. Simple visuals can bring out more than a thousand words. Even though this idea is very abstract but it has a good concept.

  2. To me this is an interesting ad despite the simple visual. In terms of the message of the ad, it took me quite some time to understand its message as it uses a subtle way of conveying the message. I do like the minimalism idea that uses incorporates with the simple placement of the book and its reflection. The combination of the both creates the shape of a lip which convey the message of the ad and I find the simple visual to be very captivating. Apart from that the whole ad doesn't carry much information as the wasn't much text to describe the ad. For those who don’t understand the ad, they might just dismiss it by looking at it as a nice visual. I would suggest the copywriter to include a tagline or a short and simple text to describe this ad.

  3. Although the ad itself is minimalistic and simple, I wouldn't dismiss it as an ineffective ad. The idea of using a book's reflection to create the shape of lips is certainly smart. It does take quite a while to understand the message, but at the same time it does capture attention to a certain degree. Of course, most of those who are constantly busy wouldn't want to spend so much brain-power to decipher it and would just dismiss it as another ad that doesn't make sense. It would be much appreciated if there was more copywriting involved to explain it a little more for those who just can't understand the message behind the visual and how it relates to anything at all. I would conclude that the ad is a somewhat hit and miss among the audience, it's not exactly an effective nor an ineffective ad.
